Trail Mix Scones

Packed with nuts, dried fruit, and delicious texture, these trail-mix scones are hearty, golden, and full of flavor in every bite. Tender on the inside with lightly crisp edges, they bring together the wholesome goodness of trail mix in a comforting baked treat. Perfect for breakfast, coffee breaks, or a satisfying snack on the go, they’re both nourishing and wonderfully satisfying.

Ingredients
3 cups Whole Wheat or Regular Flour
1 tablespoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
2/3 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Butter, chopped tiny
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon Buttermilk
1/2 cup + 2 teaspoons Orange Juice
1 teaspoon Orange Zest (optional)
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 cup Trail Mix
Note: Works great if you half the recipe for a smaller crowd
Instructions
Mix the first 4 ingredients together and set aside.
Prepare the butter and mix/cut it into the dry.
Stir in the next 4 ingredients.
Lastly, stir in the trail mix.
Form into 2 rounds on 2 parchment paper covered or sprayed cookie sheets.
Sprinkle with sugar and cut into wedges
Bake at 425F (218C) for about 15 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
Cool slightly before cutting.
